Overview

Bringing New Life to a Historic New Orleans Landmark

A vacant historic warehouse in New Orleans’ Central City neighborhood is about to begin a new chapter. RNGD is proud to partner with Tulane University School of Architecture and Built Environment on the transformation of The Graduate Hub, a new facility designed to expand opportunities for graduate education, research, and collaboration.

Located at 1833 Polymnia Street along the Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard corridor, the project will convert approximately 24,000 square feet of historic space into a purpose-built environment for the next generation of architects, preservationists, designers, and developers. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2026, with the facility scheduled to open in 2027

Building Spaces Designed for Learning and Innovation

The Graduate Hub is planned as a dedicated home for Tulane’s graduate programs, bringing together studio space, classrooms, research labs, fabrication areas, meeting rooms, event space, and student collaboration areas under one roof. The facility is designed to support the evolving needs of graduate education while creating opportunities for hands-on learning and interdisciplinary research.

Once complete, students and faculty will have access to spaces tailored for design exploration, advanced fabrication, and collaborative project work, helping strengthen Tulane’s growing research and academic initiatives.

Preserving the Past While Building the Future

A defining element of the project is the careful renovation of a historic structure while preparing it for a new role. Plans call for preserving key architectural features, including the building’s historic façade and its distinctive exterior support beams, while introducing modern learning and research environments throughout the facility.

For RNGD, projects like The Graduate Hub are an opportunity to balance preservation with progress. When complete, the facility will provide a modern home for graduate education while ensuring an important piece of the Central City neighborhood continues serving the community for decades to come.
