Overview

Major renovation in a fully operational hotel requires speed and stealth.

The J.W. Marriott Hotel is a bustling center of excitement along Canal Street in downtown New Orleans.  Knowing that activity couldn’t pause for a construction project created a challenge that RNGD was ready to accept.  The Design Build project included renovating a remarkable 501 guestrooms while the hotel remained active and occupied.  Scheduling required a phased approach and LEAN systems in order to complete the 220,000-square-foot renovation within a rigorous six-month schedule. RNGD’s goal was to be invisible to the hotel guests and complete the work in record time. 

Additional work included updates to restrooms in five suites as well as converting an out-of-service spa into additional meeting space. The project features new finishes, wall covering, window fixtures, hardware, flooring, and tub-to-shower conversions.

Completed in 2018 in partnership with Looney & Associates, RNGD also delivered a turnkey package for FF&E material, including warehousing and installation.
